PDF Tool
Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2025
PDF Tool ("the app") is an offline-first, ad-free application for creating and editing PDFs on your device. This policy describes how the app handles information.
Summary
- No account required. We do not collect your name, email, or any account data.
- Your files stay on your device. PDFs and images you open or create are processed locally and are not uploaded to our servers.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking in the app.
- Optional internet use. The app can work fully offline. Internet is used only when you choose features that need it (e.g. "Webpage to PDF" or loading fonts).
Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal identification (name, email, phone, etc.)
- Account or login data
- Usage analytics or crash reports (unless you explicitly send feedback)
- Browsing history or device identifiers for advertising
Information that stays on your device
- Files you open or create (PDFs, images) are read and processed only on your device. They may be saved to your device's storage or app sandbox when you use Save or when the app stores temporary task outputs. We do not upload these files.
- Passwords you enter for "Protect PDF" or "Unlock PDF" are used only on your device to encrypt or decrypt the PDF and are not sent to us or stored by us.
- Task log entries (e.g. success/failure messages, file names) are stored locally by the app (e.g. via HydratedBloc) for your reference. They are not sent to our servers.
When the app uses the internet
- Webpage to PDF: If you use this feature, the app will request the URL you enter to fetch the webpage and convert it to PDF. That request goes from your device to the website you specified, not to us. We do not log or store the URLs you use.
- Fonts (e.g. Google Fonts): The app may load fonts over the internet when used on platforms that support it. This is a direct request from your device to the font provider; we do not receive or store this data.
Third-party libraries
The app uses third-party open-source and commercial libraries (e.g. for PDF handling, file picking, and UI). These libraries may have their own privacy terms. We do not use them to collect your personal data. For a list of dependencies, see the project's pubspec.yaml and each package's documentation on pub.dev.
Data retention
We do not operate servers that store your data. Any data the app keeps (e.g. task history) is stored only on your device and can be cleared by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
The app does not target children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will work to delete it from our systems to the extent we hold any such data (we do not operate user-data servers).
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy or the app's data practices, please contact us at the support or contact address you use for this app (e.g. the developer email or support link listed in the app store listing or the app's settings/about screen).
